The Green Bell Bed and Barn is part of the original Malatchie Farms, a sixth generation family farm. The guest house itself was built in 1934 by my grandfather, Walter Forbes and the Reverend Charlie Toomer. Quirky and comfortable, the rooms were added as needed. Countless folks from the textile industry as well as many, many gatherings of family and friends have enjoyed “The Shack”. If only these walls could talk!
Malatchie Farm’s long and varied history has been in timber, wildlife, pecan trees, row crops, and Santa Gertrudis cattle. The bulk of the property was sold in 2001, but the “Hart” of Malatchie remains at The Green Bell Bed and Barn.
